Sydnee Hargrave began dancing when she was eight years old. At age nine, she started taking a ballet class at her homeschool co-op. This served to further her training and love for ballet, which eventually led to her enrollment at a formal dance school, Inwood Performing Arts Company in Inwood, WV at the age of eleven. She danced at IPAC for three years studying ballet, pointe, and jazz.
Just before her freshman year, she transferred to Vostrikov's Academy of Ballet in Winchester, VA. VAB was founded in 1982 by the highly esteemed Russian ballet dancer Gennadi Vostrikov and his wife Susan O'Leary, former principal dancer for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. At VAB, Sydnee continued her studies in ballet, pointe, and jazz while also studying lyrical and tap, and occasionally touching on styles such as character and hip hop. She danced with VAB until her high school graduation in May of 2013.
Throughout her years of training, Sydnee has participated in summer dance intensives at Inwood Performing Arts Company, Vostrikov's Academy of Ballet, and PAVAN, as well as at Ballet Magnificat in Jackson, MS. She has worked as a teacher's assistant and has also held a ballet/jazz summer camp for children. Since her high school graduation, she has enjoyed keeping her passion for dance alive by taking classes whenever she can. Whether it's ballet, pointe, jazz, or zumba, she doesn't ever like to pass up an opportunity to spend time in the studio!
